Blue Dot Indoor Navigation to be implemented at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL

URBANA, IL and NEW YORK, NY (January 4, 2017). Carle Foundation Hospital announced today that it has kicked off its deployment of Connexient’s MediNav solution for Digital Wayfinding and Indoor Navigation. Based in Urbana, Illinois, Carle is an integrated network of healthcare services composed of the Carle Foundation Hospital, Carle Physician Group and Health Alliance Medical Plans serving nearly 170,000 unique patients annually, providing the highest quality care in 80 specialties located in 14 communities across central Illinois.

Connexient’s MediNav provides rich indoor maps, true turn-by-turn indoor navigation and “All Screens” digital wayfinding to enhance the patient and visitor experience. MediNav also provides rich analytics on how patients are navigating the facility, helping Carle to increase operational efficiencies.

The deployment by Carle will eventually include the integration of their Epic appointment scheduling solution and MediNav’s end-to-end digital wayfinding and navigation to reduce missed or late appointments and drive an innovative new “Airline Check-in Model” personalized patient user experience.

Michael Sutter, Chief Information Officer at Carle stated: “Carle is dedicated to providing a great patient experience. One challenge that can cause stress and anxiety – and even late or missed appointments – is finding one’s way through our large hospital facility. Working together with Connexient, we can solve this challenge by bringing together appointment scheduling and reminders with digital wayfinding that guides users to exactly the right parking location, saves their parking spot and then provides “blue dot” indoor navigation to their final destination. We think this can be a game changing step forward for Patient Experience.”

“We are delighted to announce Carle as the 26th major medical center to select MediNav” commented Mark Green, Connexient’s CEO and Co-Founder. “Carle’s commitment to world class patient experience and healthcare transformation is exemplified in how they are moving forward with us to deploy the innovative ‘Airline Check-in Model’ user experience. Tightly integrating Wayfinding with patient appointment scheduling will provide Carle with a solid Return on Investment, in terms of reducing appointment no-shows and late starts.”
